Alberto González Amador Claims Political Victimization Amid Tax Fraud Case

Alberto González Amador, the partner of Madrid's president Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has publicly declared himself a victim of the Fiscalía General del Estado in relation to ongoing tax fraud charges. Appearing before the Supreme Court on November 4, 2025, González Amador accused the prosecutor's office of leaking an email in which his lawyer seemingly admitted to two tax offenses on his behalf. This leak, he explained, led to severe reputational damage, stating, "From that day I became the confessed criminal of the Kingdom of Spain. Mr. García Ortiz publicly killed me."

He revealed that his initial aim was to resolve the tax investigation discreetly, to avoid implicating Ayuso, but the situation worsened after the email became public. While surprised by the email’s content, González Amador admitted that his lawyer had informed him any deal with the Fiscalía would involve acknowledging the crime. His testimony stressed the intertwining of his legal battle with that against Álvaro García Ortiz, both affected by the alleged email leak.

Expressing deep distress, González Amador said, "They have destroyed my life. Either I leave Spain or I commit suicide." His lawyer confirmed his desire for a swift resolution was shattered by the leak’s disclosure. The case has sparked public attention, suggesting potential political motivations behind the investigation and raising questions about the interplay of legal and political strategies in this high-profile matter.
