The Alicante City Council has introduced a financial aid initiative offering 300 euros for each newborn in 2025, aiming to support families and encourage childbirth. This program marks a significant step in municipal economic policy, particularly as it imposes no income restrictions on applicants. Eliseo García, the city council's spokesperson, emphasized that the goal is to support families during crucial early stages of child development.

With an initial budget set at 100,000 euros, officials estimate that around 300 families could benefit from the initiative. Importantly, at least one parent must have lived in Alicante for the past four years, and the newborn must be registered at the address of the applicant to qualify for the aid.

Applications can be submitted online or in person within six months of the baby's birth, beginning from the date of birth or, for babies born before the announcement in May 2025, from that announcement date. In instances of custody disputes, funds will be allocated to the custodial parent, while shared custody will split the bonus equally. The city council is prepared to increase funding if demand for the program exceeds expectations.
