Bilbao's Social Services Honored for Transparency and Continuous Improvement

At the XXXII Congress of the State Association of Directors and Managers of Social Services held in Fuenlabrada, Madrid, Bilbao's municipal social services were awarded for their strong commitment to transparency and continuous improvement. Juan Ibarretxe, Bilbao’s Councilor for Social Action, accepted the award, highlighting the city’s dedication to providing public, universal, and quality social services. He stated, "We believe in public, universal, and quality social services," emphasizing that the recognition is a result of effectively measuring the efficiency and effectiveness of social service delivery at the municipal level.

The award acknowledged Bilbao’s efforts to ensure transparent management and the efficient use of resources to support citizens’ dignified life projects. Other entities recognized alongside Bilbao included the Diputación de Soria, and the municipalities of Jerez de la Frontera and San Cristóbal de la Laguna. The congress's focus was on children's and adolescents' rights within social services, also honoring organizations like UNICEF and Save the Children for their contributions, as well as Manuel Rico for social justice work.

Ibarretxe stressed the importance of maintaining continuous improvement in social rights administration, reinforcing Bilbao’s commitment to responsible public service delivery. This accolade signifies Bilbao's leadership in social services within the national context, showcasing transparency and effectiveness as key pillars of its social policies.
