The Government of the Canary Islands has officially announced a financial aid package amounting to €305,628.20 targeted at the renewal of its local fishing fleet. This funding is projected to stimulate over €412,527 in total investment towards the construction of nine new fishing vessels, each under 12 meters in length. Narvay Quintero, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food Sovereignty, emphasized that this initiative aims to modernize the current outdated fleet, enhancing both efficiency and sustainability within the regional fishing sector.

The aid program allows a maximum of €40,000 per vessel, covering up to 85% of eligible costs. As part of the regulatory framework, beneficiaries are required to comply with specific conditions and deadlines for utilizing the funds. The funded activities must be completed by December 1, 2025, with necessary documentation validation required by December 15, 2025. Additionally, there is provision for advance payments of aid under conditions of public interest or social necessity if beneficiaries can demonstrate urgent need for the funds.
