The Ajuntament de Dénia has launched a funding initiative aimed at supporting local non-profit sports clubs and associations, with a total grant allocation of €170,000 for 2025. This funding represents a €4,000 increase from the previous year, reflecting the city's commitment to fostering sports within the community.
Eligible organizations must be based in Dénia, have operated for at least two years, and meet certain legal and fiscal requirements. The application window opened on July 29 and will close on August 19, 2025, allowing only online submissions through the municipal website.
The grants can financial support for a variety of expenses, including purchasing sports equipment, facilitating transportation and accommodation for competitions, and covering costs for training and coaching staff. However, expenses such as investments in non-consumable equipment or activities exclusive to members are not eligible.
Projects will be assessed on criteria such as the promotion of minority sports, the number of licenses—especially those for minors and women—sports results, and participation in local events. Valen Alcalà, the Sports Councillor, emphasized the importance of these grants, stating they are designed to alleviate the financial pressures faced by local clubs as they organize activities and build teams. He affirmed the municipality's dedication to supporting the ongoing vitality of sports entities in Dénia.
