María Guardiola, president of Extremadura, recently announced significant strides in the region's economic landscape following recent political changes. She proudly stated that Extremadura has achieved a historic low unemployment rate and a record high in Social Security affiliations. In a social media video, Guardiola noted that the region has experienced one of the largest decreases in unemployment nationwide over the past year, marking it as the second-best performing community in Spain for July.

Notably, the improvements have been especially pronounced among women, youth, and individuals over 45, with declining unemployment rates in these demographics breaking previous trends.

Additionally, over 1,100 new self-employed individuals have started their own businesses in the past year, suggesting a thriving entrepreneurial spirit in the region. Guardiola attributed these positive developments to the hard work and dedication of the local populace and the effectiveness of government measures, including the Plan de Estímulo a la Creación y Consolidación del Trabajo Autónomo. This initiative has been recognized as the best support program for the self-employed in Spain by ATA.

In her remarks, she expressed gratitude towards all the contributors to this success, affirming that as the region continues to grow, the benefits will ripple out to its residents.
