The Junta de Extremadura, led by Minister Guillermo Santamaría, has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering economic growth through collaboration with the Confederación Independiente de Empresarios Autónomos (CIEM), which represents over 23,000 businesses. This partnership, marking one year since CIEM's integration into CEOE, focuses on addressing the key needs of the region's businesses, particularly in infrastructure, fiscal policy, and support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

During a recent meeting, Santamaría emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration in advancing Extremadura's economic development. CIEM president José Luis Iniesta highlighted challenges facing local businesses, such as taxation and infrastructure inadequacies. Both leaders called for improvements to the electrical and communication networks, notably to enhance operations at Badajoz airport during foggy weather.

Santamaría also expressed concerns regarding the proposed reform of the Law on Occupational Risk Prevention by Minister Yolanda Díaz, stating it lacks backing from regional and business entities and could harm local companies. The joint agenda aims to boost entrepreneurship in Extremadura by prioritizing financial support, workforce training, and generational business transition to strengthen competitiveness.

This strategic cooperation underscores the commitment of Extremadura's government and CIEM to create an enabling environment for business growth and resilience, advancing both local economic stability and job creation.
