Madrid has emerged as a powerhouse in job creation, significantly contributing to Spain's employment growth in September 2025. The region accounted for an impressive 21.1% of new jobs nationally, translating to around 290 individuals finding jobs each day. In total, Madrid recorded an increase of 45,903 new contributors, marking a 1.2% rise month-over-month and pushing the overall count of contributors in the region to 4,243,506. This contribution was crucial, as without it, Spain would have experienced a net job loss of more than 14,400 jobs for the month, according to reports from the Comunidad de Madrid.

The unemployment rate in Madrid also saw a significant decline, decreasing by 4.7% or 13,614 fewer unemployed individuals, bringing the total unemployed count down to 278,056. This marks the lowest unemployment figure for September since 2007. Notably, this decrease affected both genders and all age groups, with young people under 30 witnessing a 6.2% reduction in unemployment.

Sectorial impacts were notably positive, particularly in Agriculture and Construction, which saw drops of 15.1% and 10.5% in unemployment, respectively. The data reflects a broader trend of recovery and growth in Madrid’s labor market, highlighted by a 1.4% increase in self-employed individuals compared to the previous year, totaling 435,483 self-employed workers in the region.
