In a significant boost to the economy of Andalusia, Mahou San Miguel has contributed an impressive 255 million euros in 2024, according to a recent study by Valora Consultores. This contribution not only highlights the company's pivotal role in the local economy but also resulted in the creation of 30,433 jobs, representing a 6% increase compared to the previous year. A breakdown of these jobs reveals that 550 were direct positions, while a substantial 29,883 jobs were generated indirectly through the company’s supply chain and hospitality partners. Notably, Andalusia emerged as the region where Mahou San Miguel created the most jobs outside of Madrid, accounting for 16.7% of the company’s total employment across Spain.
Additionally, Mahou San Miguel has strengthened local businesses by purchasing more than 69 million euros' worth of goods and services from 676 local suppliers. This engagement underscores the company's commitment to enhancing the local business ecosystem in the region. As Miguel Ángel Miguel, the General Director of Mahou San Miguel’s Spain Business Unit, pointed out, "Andalucía is a priority for us... not only because of our historical ties but also due to its strategic role in our industrial, logistical, and commercial structure."
The brewery is noted for its considerable industrial footprint in Andalusia, with three major production centers located in Málaga, Granada, and Córdoba, in addition to a mineral water spring in Jaén. The company is also actively investing in the enhancement of its facilities to maintain competitiveness and improve environmental performance.
In relation to Spain as a whole, Mahou San Miguel's operations contributed approximately 8.529 billion euros to the national economy, which accounts for 0.5% of Spain's GDP. The hospitality sector alone benefited from a contribution of 204 million euros, and on a broader scale, the company generated a total of 183,575 jobs nationwide.
