The Consell de Mallorca has rolled out a new funding initiative amounting to €443,000 aimed at supporting investments in physical stores operated by social economy entities. This program, announced on August 2, 2025, targets cooperatives and associations selling local products, with the intention of enhancing their competitiveness and promoting social responsibility.
The funding allocation is divided into two segments: €234,000 designated for non-profit entities focused on social responsibility, and €200,000 for profit-oriented businesses. Eligible projects can receive up to €30,000 each, with a focus on improving energy efficiency, ensuring accessibility, implementing technological upgrades, and enhancing product organization.
The application period will open on August 3 and will last for 25 days, with the expectation that funding approvals will be finalized by the end of September 2023. Additionally, applicants will need to justify their expenditures by October 31, 2025, according to the announcement made through the Boletín Oficial de las Illes Balears (BOIB).
Pilar Amate, the Consell's Councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, stressed the importance of modernizing social economy stores, which are rooted in principles of equity and participation. This initiative aims to boost their visibility in the local market, ultimately fostering a greater focus on local consumption.
