The Molina Este health center, currently under construction in Molina de Segura, promises to significantly improve healthcare access for residents. This facility aims to provide primary and specialized healthcare services, thereby reducing the need for locals to travel long distances to hospitals for medical care.
The new center is set to serve approximately 16,000 users initially, with the capacity to expand to accommodate 30,000 health cards, covering a total population of about 140,000 people from Molina de Segura and surrounding areas such as Alguazas, Archena, Fortuna, Ceutí, and Lorquí. Designed to alleviate the burden on existing health infrastructure, the center is equipped to offer various specialties including cardiology, surgery, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology, and urology.
Constructed over an area of 6,600 square meters, this facility represents an investment of around 10 million euros. It is being developed as part of the 2023-2026 Primary Care Improvement Strategy, with partial funding from European Union resources via the Primary Care Infrastructure Improvement Plan (MINAP). Expected to be operational by 2026, the Molina Este center will also feature dedicated facilities for family medicine, pediatrics, women's health, and dental care.
Health Minister Juan José Pedreño highlighted the strategic importance of this project, stating that it will "significantly enhance healthcare services for the local population, reducing the need for travel to external hospitals for specialist consultations." This initiative reflects ongoing efforts to bolster public health infrastructure in Spain and improve overall community health outcomes through accessible medical services.
