PSOE Demands Immediate Repairs at Ciudad Jardín Sports Facilities Over Safety Concerns

The PSOE political group has called on Málaga City Council for urgent repairs and improvements to the decaying sports facilities in Ciudad Jardín’s Carmen neighborhood, highlighting significant safety risks. During a recent visit to the sports courts on Calle Alcalde Madolell Perea, district representative Rosa del Mar Rodríguez described the infrastructure as being in "deplorable condition," with crumbling walls and metal fences at risk of collapse. She warned that these deteriorating perimeter walls could lead to serious accidents, posing dangers to both children using the facilities and pedestrians passing by.

Pablo Orellana, PSOE’s spokesperson on sports, emphasized that the problems in Ciudad Jardín reflect a widespread neglect of public sports infrastructure across Málaga. He recalled a motion presented two years ago aimed at rehabilitating outdoor sports facilities, which has seen little progress. Orellana added that broken goals, uneven pavements, and structural damage discourage locals from utilizing these spaces and increase the risk of injuries. While vandalism contributes, the ultimate responsibility for maintenance lies with the municipality.

The PSOE’s demands underscore an urgent need for comprehensive evaluations and prompt intervention to safeguard community members and restore safe, accessible sports facilities. They vow to continue pressing for improved living conditions and better sports infrastructure maintenance throughout Málaga’s neighborhoods.
