In an effort to bolster healthcare infrastructure, regional health authorities in Spain, particularly in Andalucía and the Basque Country, are engaging in significant renovations and new constructions of healthcare facilities during the summer of 2025.

In San Fernando, the Junta de Andalucía has earmarked €200,000 for upgrades to health facilities. A substantial portion, €150,000, is allocated for renovations at the Hospital de San Carlos, focusing on the surgical block and day surgery unit. Additionally, €50,000 will improve climate control systems at the Rodríguez Arias health center, with the aim of enhancing comfort for patients and staff during the hot months. This effort is part of a broader initiative involving over €1.6 million for improvements across Cádiz province, which includes the modernization of hospitalization units and repairs at various health centers throughout the region.

In parallel, the Basque Health Service, Osakidetza, has placed a tender for a new health center in Loiola, Donostia, with a budget of €6.7 million. The construction is expected to take three years and will include four floors plus a dedicated floor for addiction services. This facility will prioritize public accessibility and a safe environment by separating pedestrian and vehicle traffic, with the design promoting optimal use of the site.

These initiatives reflect the commitment of the respective regional governments to enhance healthcare services by modernizing facilities and improving patient experiences during the peak summer months.
