On November 24, 2025, Yolanda Díaz, Spain's Second Vice President and Minister of Labor and Social Economy, inaugurated the 40th anniversary of the Escuelas Taller program, emphasizing its pivotal role in combining quality training with employment rights. This milestone event showcased the TándEM program, which blends education with paid employment contracts, focusing on specialized projects to boost the employability of youth aged 16 to 29. The initiative achieves a remarkable labor insertion rate of up to 70%, illustrating its effectiveness.

Since its inception in 1985, Escuelas Taller has trained more than 1.2 million people across 30,000 programs, evolving to include projects that address ecological and digital transitions. The TándEM program has expanded internationally as well, with 376 projects in 70 cities spanning 25 countries, empowering over 48,460 young individuals.

To further strengthen protections for trainee workers, Díaz announced that the Council of Ministers will soon approve a Royal Decree ensuring their rights align with the Workers' Statute. This legislative move seeks to guarantee proper labor rights for employees during their training periods.

While related infrastructure investments, such as a €35 million scheme in the Comunitat Valenciana to improve rural roads and support agricultural economies, have been highlighted recently, the central focus remains on workforce development through programs like TándEM that marry quality education with employment rights.
